Introduction to cultural policy

The course deals with the cultural political system with a focus on the emergence of cultural policy as a political area, the foundations of national cultural policy and current cultural policy theories of art and the role of culture in society, consumer patterns and media behaviour, political governance of the culture sector and the funding and economisation of culture. Swedish circumstances provide the starting-point. The course includes guest lectures by academic cultural historians and theorists.

Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
