Main instrument V, Western classical music
15.0 ECTS creditsStudents study, interpret, and perform a varied repertoire in terms of styles in Western classical music as well as music genres performed in other artistic contexts on their main instrument. They also analyse and apply repertoire, style, musical analysis, and interpretation in relation to different conventions of musical performance and identify the methodological challenges of the repertoire concerned. Presentations and applications of complex technical exercises are included, as well as preparation for auditions and contests. Students play demanding music repertoire requiring highly developed technical skills and good familiarity with style and performance praxis. Parts of the repertoire are performed in concerts. The course also includes discussion of methodological challenges in studying and performing music and critical reflections on and problematisations of different approaches to music performance and conversations on evaluating their own development and skills in relation to the demands of the profession.
