The theory and practice of basic theatre care in perioperative care
7.5 ECTS creditsNursing (2.5 ECTS cr) and Medical Science (5 ECTS cr) are integrated in the course. Instruction is in the form of digital lectures, literature study, a theoretical assignment, and 4 weeks of clinical placement (VFU). The course includes individual study and a group meeting at the place of study.

(VFU): Perioperative consultations with the patient and, when applicable, next of kin The perioperative nursing process Surgical methodology and techniques Asepsis and hygiene Topographical anatomy Biological products Medical technologyProfessional conduct and approach Clinical logbook Students are responsible for continuously reflecting upon their learning needs related to topographical anatomy, hygiene, asepsis, medical technology, surgical techniques, ethics, and perioperative nursing care, in relation to the current clinical placement. One of the grades Pass (G) or Fail (U) is awarded in the examination of the clinical placement.

Nursing licence issued by the National Board of Health and Welfare, plus a nursing degree of at least 180 ECTS credits, including a degree project of at least 15 ECTS credits, or a Bachelor degree in nursing (including a degree project of at least 15 ECTS credits), plus at least 12 months fulltime work experience as a registered nurse, plus upper secondary level Swedish 3 or Swedish as a second language 3 and English 6 or A, or Swedish level 3 or Swedish as a second language level 3 and English level 2, or equivalent

Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
