Prehospital triage and management
6.0 ECTS creditsNursing, 2 ECTS cr, and Medical Science, 4 ECTS cr, are integrated in this course.
Instruction is in the form of lectures, study assignments, seminars, and practical exercises. The course is offered part-time and partly as distance education, partly on campus and in the training area. These components are in some cases concentrated to a number of consecutive days on campus.
Students study the management, organisation, and leadership of prehospital care in disasters in relation to other care providers and public agencies. Students also practise teamwork and care management with a focus on the responsibilities and functions of care managers and medical experts in disasters. Leadership theories and organisation model are studied in relation to work environment, staff, and deviation reporting. Students also study quality assurance efforts related to the prehospital context and patient safety. Methods of relief and debriefing are studied in theory and practice. The module also includes review and analysis of relevant questionnaires and assessment instruments.

Admission to the Specialist Nursing programme: Prehospital Emergency Care, plus upper secondary level Swedish 3 or Swedish as a second language 3 and English 6 or A, or equivalent

Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
