Methods of Spatial and Social Planning

Instruction is in the form of lectures/lessons, presentations, laboratory sessions, practical exercises, filed trips and seminars.
The focus of the course is on practical methods in community planning.
The course deals with the different political, social, ecological and technological dimensions of community planning issues, exemplified by actual construction projects at different levels and in different environments, urban construction, landscape planning, infrastructure development.. Methods of promoting civic participation and communication are discussed, as are prognosis, scenario planning techniques and future models. Special attention is given to issues of sustainability, gender, diversity and integration. GIS methods are briefly treated.

Completed first term Community Planning programme 30 ECTS cr., course KGGB42 and the courses KGGB43, SVGB90 and SVGB91, or equivalent.

Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
