AI Applications in Law
7.5 ECTS creditsThe course treats the broad concept Legal Tech which is an umbrella term for technology, especially software, used to deliver legal services and also for systems that support the work of legal practitioners. Their work is facilitated by powerful text databases that include laws, preparatory legal work, court rulings (praxis), and legal literature (doctrine). At the same time, there is a development towards streamlining the processes of businesses and authorities, which can result in automated decision-making which lacks human judgement. The course has a special focus on applications of artificial intelligence (AI) - both generative AI and machine learning (ML) - in legal work processes.
Instruction is in the form of lectures followed by discussion seminars chaired by lecturers from Information Systems and Law and external guest lecturers, laboratory sessions on AI use, and presentation seminars.
