Intercultural Studies: Culture in Humanitarian Emergencies
7.5 ECTS creditsThe course provides an overview of how public and private institutions as well as individuals handle emergencies resulting from for instance conflict, pandemics, and climate change. Their contributions to the reception and organisation of newly arrived refugees are discussed based on studies of encounters and relationships between those involved in both originating and destination countries. In this way, the course provides an understanding of intercultural possibilities and challenges that may arise in areas affected by emergencies.
