Introduction to Gender Studies III: Organization, resistance and change
7.5 ECTS creditsIn this course, the students are introduced to fundamental areas of feminist and gender studies, with a focus on work and working life, organizational changes and institutional structures, as well as resistance to these. We also have an overview discussion of scientific theory from a feminist perspective. Furthermore, we concentrate on understanding structures and relations of inequality in working life and in organizations and introduce the use of intersectionality as a tool to analyze different forms of discrimination, exclusion and inequalities.
Introduction to Gender Studies I-IV consists of four courses that can be taken individually (7.5 ECTS credits each) or combined in sets of two, three, or four courses. Completing all four courses provides students with a solid introduction to the field of gender studies (30 ECTS credits). The course is conducted on-campus in English and primarily targets exchange students, although it is also open to Swedish students. The instruction is in English, but exams and assignments can be written in Swedish.
Each course has its own focus, but all four courses provide an introduction to fundamental concepts and theories within the field of gender studies. The courses also include an introduction to academic writing, oral presentation of ideas and arguments, as well as providing constructive feedback on peers' work.
