Central concepts in service research is introduced along with the use of the concepts in research and practice, especially the concepts services, service quality, customer experience, customer approach, value creation, goods and service logic. The service perspective and the goods and service logic are also emphasised in the module. Models for describing, categorizing and analysing value-creation through services are treated, with a special focus on how the prganisation can create value for customers.
Module 2 Advanced professional skills 1st part
Students develop skills in interpersonal and intercultural communication with a special focus on problem solving in groups, member interaction and how cultural differences affect the group work.
Module 3 Quality Management and Responsibility
The module comprises four components:
Component 1: Quality technique as a tool of strategic business development.
Different perspectives on quality technique are introduced as the basis of problematisations of business development opportunities.
Component 2: Servicification in manufacturing
Servicification is problematised with a special focus on customer satisfaction, design and quality development tools.
Component 3: CSR as a global phenomenon
Different ways of organising, controlling and measuring sustainable business development and continual improvements are treated.
Component 4: All the components are brought together to show how quality technique and CSR form a framework for sustainable business and quality improvement.
Module 4 Service and Market Oriented Public Transportation
Different themes on how public transportation is organised and marketed are treated. The customer and business perspectives, as well as the perspective of the principal bodies are used to analyse efficiency and productivity in public transportation. The link between service theories and public transportation is analysed in detail and research on public transportation is used to exemplify issues. Students participate in projects and present their results in reports discussed at seminars.
