30.0 ECTS creditsThe course comprises five modules:
Module 1: Spanish syntax 9 ECTS cr
The module includes theoretical and practical surveys of central problems of Spanish syntax and translation exercises from Swedish into Spanish. The application of Spanish grammar in teaching to explain problematic grammatical phenomena for learners and to assess proficiency is treated.
Module 2: Latin-America, culture and society 4.5 ECTS cr
The module provides an introduction to Latin-American geography, history and culture with a special emphasis on the pre-understanding of current cultural phenomena and social conditions.
Module 3 Spanish phonetics and linguistics 6 ECTS cr
The module survey Spanish phonology, morphology, prosody and regional features as well as their application in teaching.
Module 4:Spanish-speaking literature 3 ECTS cr
The module includes the reading, analysis and interpretation of 20th century literary texts of different genres. Basic theoretical concepts related to analysis and interpretation are developed to provide insights into different literary perspectives and interpretative potentials for application in various communicative situations.
Module 5a: Practical Placement 1, 7.5 ECTS cr
The practical placement is carried out in Sweden and in a target language country with an emphasis on practical and theoretical knowledge of strategies for teaching and assessment. Issues related to cultural and social conditions in the target language country are discussed.
Students who are prevented from studying abroad are guaranteed practical placement in Sweden in the same period. The learning outcomes in module 5a and 5b can be meet without being located in a Spanish-speaking country.
