English Linguistics I: Concepts and Theories

The course introduces basic concepts and theories used in important areas of research in English linguistics. The course provides a foundation for understanding the structure and use of the English language, including comparison with Swedish and other languages. Students discuss language issues and apply linguistic concepts and theories in practical analyses and exercises. Students receive an introduction to linguistics as a field of research, including the academic discourse used in it.

Progressive specialisation: G1N (has only upper‐secondary level entry requirements)

Admission requirements: General admission requirements and upper secondary level English 6 or B, or equivalent

Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
