House Building Technology
7.5 ECTS creditsThe course consists of:
- building materials
- the structure and function of foundation, structure, structure completion and building envelope
- the fire resistance and acoustic aspects of buildings
- reading drawings
- exterior and interior climate
- heat and moisture transport in buildings
- energy consumption in buildings
- laboratory work including concreting and compressive test of concrete, tensile test of steel and compressive test of wood.
Instruction is in the form of lectures, calculation exercises, four mandatory group laboratory exercises and field trips. There is also one mandatory group project assignment.

Upper secondary level Mathematics D, Physics B, and Chemistry A (field-specific eligibility 8) or Mathematics 3c, Physics 2 and Chemistry 1 (field-specific eligibility A8).

Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
