Deferment of Studies
If you have been admitted to a programme at Karlstad University but are prevented from starting, you may request and be granted deferment of studies if there are special circumstances.
Deferment of studies can be granted for medical reasons, childcare, student union assignment, or deferred leave of absence from work to study.
If your request for deferment is granted, you must later apply again at www.universityadmissions.se when you would like to start studying. This must be done within 18 months in order for you to be guaranteed admission.
Relevant certificates supporting the reason for your request must be attached. If your reasons are medical a doctor´s certificate must be enclosed.
If your request is denied, the decision can be appealed. See information on the appropriate form.
Print out and fill in the form below and send it to Karlstad University, Admissions Office, Office of Student Affairs, 65188 Karlstad, Sweden. Mark the envelope ”Deferment”.

How to begin your studies
When you want to start your studies you must submit a new application to the course/programme on universityadmissions.se. In conjunction with your application you need to upload the form that states that your request for a deferment of studies has been approved. Please note that if you are obliged to pay application fees you must pay this fee again.
