English Literature, directed studies
The aim of the course is to provide thorough knowledge of Anglophone literature, as well as enhanced knowledge of research methodology in literary studies.
The course comprises an individually determined specialisation in the literature of one or more chosen periods, or of literature chosen from certain thematic perspectives.
Course goals
Upon completion of the course, doctoral students should have
- thorough knowledge about Anglophone literature, and
- enhanced their abilities to analyse literary texts critically and to critically evaluate different types of literary studies.
Prerequisites
The course is primarily aimed at students admitted to a doctoral programme in English, with specialisation in literary studies.
Examination
Assessment takes the form of an approved course design and of an individual written essay.
