Hello there Jörg Lenhard!2016-06-10
Welcome to Karlstad University! You newly started your employment here as a postdoc in computer science. What and where have you studied before you started here in May?
In the spring I earned my doctor’s degree in computer science with a specialization in distributed systems at the University in Bamberg, Germany, where I also earned my Bachelor and Master degrees. But this is not my first time in Sweden. I have also studied at the University of Skövde as an Erasmus student and during my time as a doctoral student I visited Blekinge Institute of Technology in Karlskrona.
What do you think of your new hometown?
I like Karlstad a lot. I’ve never been in Scandinavia in the summer, only in the autumn and winter. It’s really an experience seeing the sun and daylight so many hours into the night.
Why did you apply for the position at Karlstad University?
Living and working in Sweden has been a goal for me for a long time. That’s why I started to look for vacancies at Swedish universities towards the end of my doctoral program. When the position at Karlstad University appeared, I saw immediately that it would suit my research perfectly.
What is your research focus?
My focus is on measuring and assessing software quality, especially software portability.
What is your research goal?
Software that exists today is used for a very long time, often many years. It’s important that it can be changed and adjusted over time and adapted to new demands without deteriorating. I want to develop methods, models and tools to preserve software quality for a long time.
