Award at womEncourage for Phd Student

PhD student Jenni Reuben at Computer Science has been awarded with the 2nd prize in the hackathon competition at the conference womENcourage arranged by ACM-W.
ACM-W (Europe womENcourage Celebration of Women in Computing) is a facet of ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) that celebrates women in computing and has many initiatives under its umbrella. One such initiative is womENcourage. It is a conference, which facilitates women in computing to meet, network and to learn new trends in computing. This year womENcourage 2015 was held at Uppsala University, Sweden from 24th of September to 26th September.
– It was a wonderful experience to attend a conference that celebrates women in computing. I met people from across the globe and from different disciplines of computer science, says Jenni Reuben PhD student at Computer Science, Karlstad University.
The conference provided unlimited number of scholarships funded by industry partners to encourage women to participate and engage. The program of conference constitutes of hackathon, workshops, paper and poster presentation, panels, keynotes, and career fairs. During the conference Jenni Reuben won a 2nd prize in the hackathon competition, which she feels had increased her confidence in her computing skills.
