Colloquium: Time Sensitive Network Configuration — Challenges and Approaches
SPEAKER: Hamza Chahed, Ph.D. student in computer science at Karlstad University Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) encompasses Ethernet amendments that enhance determinism in packet delivery for converged networks. Its primary objective is to provide mechanisms ensuring low and predictable transmission latency, coupled with high availability, for demanding applications like real-time streaming, automotive systems, and industrial control. Achieving the required Quality of Service (QoS) level necessitates meticulous configuration of the transmission process, which can be challenging due to diverse requirements of coexisting streams and the complexity of TSN mechanisms. In this seminar, we offer an overview of TSN, highlighting its diverse use cases. We specifically focus on the challenges linked to TSN network setup and configuration. Additionally, we introduce OpenCNC, an open-source tool designed to automate TSN network configuration, simplifying the management of complex TSN mechanisms. Join us to explore TSN through real-world applications and discover how OpenCNC streamlines TSN network configuration. Attending is mandatory for Ph.D. students. Beyond that, everybody is welcome.
