Doctoral studies in comparative literature
Doctoral studies in comparative literature provides the basis and skills needed to be established as a researcher in comparative literature. Doctoral students acquire a wide reading in literature as well as expertise in their thesis area.

Students take the courses in literary theory and methodology, individual literary history, academic writing, and directed reading according to needs and relevance. We encourage our doctoral students to take the national courses offered and courses offered in the Nordic countries.
Required courses
- Literary Theory and Methodology (15 ECTS cr)
- Literary History Specialisation 15 ECTS credits designed in consultation with the supervisor.
Electives
Four subject or thesis related courses of 7.5 ECTS credits, chosen in consultation with the supervisor.
