"Risk-walk" gives big picture of societal risks
2015-09-10The risk management discipline at Karlstad University welcomed this years new students of its master program Risk management in society to the first campus assembly by arranging a "Risk-walk" in Karlstad.
The Centre for Climate and Safety has arranged a number of "Flood-walks" over the years as part of our work with development of pedagogic tools. Flood risks and the management of these can be concretized and be put in a wider societal context through place-based learning.
Todays societies contain a wide spectre of risks that needs to be considered in societal planning and preparedness work. Therefore, we are happy to get the opportunity to widen the perspective of our walks by co-hosting "Risk walks", in collaboration with our sister-centre at the discipline risk management: CPS.
The walk was conducted as part of the first campus assembly in this years master program Risk management in society and gathered some 30 students with different areas of interest and backgrounds. The participants were guided in a tour of the inner harbour area of Karlstad, with a focus on a wide spectre of risks, from natural hazards to accidents and individual harm.
