Open House at Campus Total Defence
"Preparedness Week" (Beredskapsveckan) takes place annually during Week 39, led by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). Its primary aim is to strengthen public resilience, and the theme for 2026 is "You are part of Sweden’s total defence." Municipalities, county administrative boards, other government agencies, and voluntary organizations across the country participate—and Karlstad University is also taking part during the week of September 21–27.
The new "Campus Total Defence" space, located in the corridor adjacent to Café Gläntan, will also be open to visitors. During Preparedness Week, staff and students are welcome daily between 12:00 and 13:00, with extended hours until 14:00 on Wednesday. Following this week, the space will be open every Wednesday from 13:00 to 14:00.
Campus Total Defence is a national initiative in which Swedish higher education institutions collaborate to strengthen Sweden’s total defence through education, research, collaboration, and innovation. Through Campus Total Defence, professionals and students gain access to academic education and research that contribute to societal resilience. The collaboration aims to strengthen total defence by training the experts of the future and promoting research that meets society's needs.
