Changes in Legimus for talking books
2026-09-02The Swedish Agency for Accessible Media (MTM), which is responsible for Legimus, will no longer produce all required course literature as talking books. In addition, some titles that were previously available in Legimus have been removed. This means that if you use Legimus, you may find that certain books are no longer available.
MTM is changing its approach to course literature because an increasing number of publishers are making e-books available that comply with the new accessibility legislation. Going forward, MTM will increasingly refer users to these e-books and provide supplementary adaptations only when necessary. In addition, titles that have previously been available in Legimus are being removed if they are now available as e-books.
Due to pricing models and licensing terms, the library is not always able to purchase these course books as e-books. We hope that solutions can be found going forward, but at present some titles are therefore available neither as accessible e-books through the library nor as talking books through Legimus.
What does this mean for you as a student?
You will likely need to use more e-books across different platforms instead of having everything collected in Legimus. Search our library catalogue or OneSearch to see what is available. In some cases, you may also need to purchase an e-book directly from the publisher.
Check whether an older edition is still available in Legimus and consult your teacher to see if that edition can be used for your course.
If an accessible e-book is available but does not meet your needs because of your disability, we may still be able to request an adapted version through MTM. In that case, please submit a book request using the form available on our talking books pages.
