Samtan Courage Fiebjim, Master’s programme in Accounting and Control
What programme are you taking at Karlstad Business School?
I am currently enrolled in the Master’s programme in Accounting and Control at Karlstad Business School, where I am developing a deeper understanding of accounting and management control in both theoretical and practical contexts.
How well has the programme met your academic expectations?
The programme has met my academic expectations to a large extent and has been very engaging. I particularly appreciate the strong connection between theory and real-world applications, which helps make the course content relevant and meaningful.
What aspects of the teaching and learning environment have been most supportive for your studies?
The teaching and learning environment has been very supportive throughout my studies. Lecturers are approachable and knowledgeable, while study counsellors and the IT department consistently provide helpful assistance whenever academic, administrative, or technical issues arise.
Is there anything that could be improved - and in what way?
While the overall experience has been positive, finding part-time work as an international student can be challenging. Stronger collaboration between the university and employers, clearer job advertisements regarding eligibility, and expanded access to internships and post-graduation opportunities would significantly improve support for international students.
In what ways has this program contributed to your personal or professional development?
The programme has contributed greatly to my personal and professional development by strengthening my critical thinking skills and my ability to work effectively in group settings. It has also helped me see accounting as an integrated discipline, where budgeting, taxation, and financial accounting work together as parts of a cohesive whole.
Would you recommend Karlstad Business School to other students
I would recommend Karlstad University to other students because of its high academic standards, supportive learning environment, and strong emphasis on practical relevance within an international academic setting.
