Suraj Prasad
Research
I am a researcher in the Department of Engineering and Physics at Karlstad University. My current research focuses on developing interconnection and fault-detection methods for silicon solar cells. During my PhD, I worked on the stability and degradation mechanisms of non-fullerene acceptor (NFA)-based high-performance organic photovoltaics (OPVs). My research focuses on addressing one of the most critical challenges in OPV commercialization: achieving high efficiency while ensuring long-term operational stability.
Bio
I completed my PhD in Physics at Karlstad University, Sweden (2021-2026). My doctoral research focused on the photodegradation mechanisms of organic solar cells, particularly non-fullerene acceptors and donor polymers, as well as device stability and advanced optoelectronic characterization. During my PhD, I gained experience in the fabrication and characterization of organic photovoltaic devices using techniques such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, FTIR, XPS, UPS, AFM, SEM, EQE, IQE, transient optoelectronic measurements, and synchrotron-based spectroscopy.
Before joining Karlstad University, I worked as a Project Assistant at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, India (2019-2021), where I conducted research on perovskite solar cells, focusing on device fabrication and performance optimization. Prior to that, I completed a research internship at CSIR-Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CEERI), Pilani, Rajasthan, India (2018-2019), where I worked on GaN-based light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and gained experience in semiconductor device physics.
I hold a Master’s degree in Electronic Science from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Arunachal Pradesh, India (2018), and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from St. Xavier's College, Ranchi, India (2016).
