Research
My research focuses on automated approaches to frame detection and analysis in news and social media. Media frames can be understood as interpretive angles through which communicators present issues, emphasizing certain meanings while downplaying others in order to resonate with and shape audience understanding, opinions, or evaluations of a topic. Framing is a well-established and influential theory in media studies, but it has traditionally been examined through qualitative or manually quantitative methods, often on relatively small samples. By introducing automated and computational approaches, my work aims to scale up framing analysis and enable more systematic and generalizable insights into contemporary media environments. Empirically, my research focuses on global political events and adopts a cross-national, multilingual, and mixed-methods design.
