Michael Skragge
Research
I'm a licensed clinical psychologist and PhD student at Karlstad University. My primary interests lie in altered states of consciousness, particularly psychedelic states and psychedelic-assisted therapy. My thesis project focuses on people who use psychedelic substances in naturalistically, outside of controlled clinical settings: how can we minimize risks associated with the use of psychedelics (harm reduction) and how people can be supported in processing their psychedelic experiences afterwards (psychedelic integration), especially those experiencing various forms of prolonged psychological challenges. Here, I am particularly interested in the psychological processes that increase the risk of prolonged difficulties, keep them going, and could be meaningful therapeutic targets in integration work.
