Research
Through my research, I aim to highlight the resources people with dementia possess and how healthcare personnel can support these resources. My PhD-project focuses on the processes of pain management in people with dementia living in nursing homes. Pain is a common symptom in this target group. As pain is a subjective experience, self-reporting is the gold standard of assessment methods. This highlights the importance of supporting people with dementia in communicating their experiences of pain. The aim of the project is two folded: (1) To generate new knowledge and perspectives about how people with dementia express pain, and how these expressions can be integrated in pain management in nursing homes and (2) bring about change through the development of an intervention with the aim to safeguard these processes.
Teaching
I teach systematic clinical examination and assessment, and dementia-, palliative-, and advanced geriatric care
