For more than two decades, Anna Lena Kempe has played a significant role in Swedish music education, especially through the widely used teaching materials Handlingsutrymme and Gitarrguiden with the accompanying Teacher’s Guide. These have been central resources in guitar teacher training at Ingesund School of Music for over 20 years.
Kempe’s approach integrates instrumental pedagogy with deep didactic reflection, shaping teaching practices at multiple educational levels. Trained in guitar and renaissance lute at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, her doctoral research in music education resulted in Interaction and Knowledge Development (with Tore West), focusing on learning as a communicative and social process.
As Associate Professor in Didactics at Stockholm University, Kempe works with questions of learning design and analyses of complex teaching and learning situations, offering tools for navigating the didactic landscape in a changing educational environment.

Georg Gulyás – Between Score and Stage
In english:
Georg Gulyás’ artistic research investigates how musical interpretation can be deepened through metaphorical and narrative concepts drawn from literature and drama. The project focuses on Hans Werner Henze’s Royal Winter Music — a suite for solo guitar inspired by Shakespeare’s characters — exploring how literary structures can shape and renew interpretive strategies.
A defining aspect of the project is its performative and collaborative dimension. Working with theatre director Dr. Jörgen Dahlqvist and a small ensemble of actors, Gulyás has staged the pieces to examine how theatrical presence, dramaturgical methods, and embodied performance practices can enrich and expand musical interpretation. This work opens new possibilities for expression within the solo repertoire of Western art music.
Georg Gulyás is Professor of Guitar at Ingesund School of Music. He studied at the Juilliard School in New York and earned a soloist diploma from the École Normale de Musique in Paris. His extensive discography includes recordings for Proprius/Naxos. He has frequently appeared as a soloist with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and has performed internationally, including tours in Japan, South America, Russia, the United States, and Australia.
