Ukraine’s ambassador lectures for staff and students
2026-03-10On Thursday, 19 March, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Sweden, Ms Svitlana Zalishchuk, will visit Karlstad University to give a lecture entitled Ukraine in a Time of War: Resilience, Daily Life, and Global Shifts.
The lecture, which will be held in English, will last for around 20 minutes, followed by a Q&A session. The moderator will be County Governor Georg Andrén.
The ambassador summarises her lecture as follows:
”How does a country continue to function when war becomes part of everyday life?
In Ukraine, resilience is woven into the daily routines. People keep studying, working, and supporting one another, even as uncertainty shapes the rhythm of daily life.
At the same time, Ukraine must navigate a world where international support and global attention shifts, political priorities change, and alliances are tested — including the United States’ shifting role under president Trump. How does a nation plan for the future, rebuild its institutions, and sustain hope when the international landscape is constantly in motion?”
The lecture and subsequent Q&A will take place in the Lagerlöf Hall (1A 305) from 14:15 to 15:00 on Thursday, 19 March.
For those who are unable to attend this afternoon’s lecture, there is also an opportunity to listen to Svitlana Zalishchuk at the Värmland Museum in the evening, from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm. Further information about that event, which also features Hans Lödén, Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Karlstad University, can be found here (in Swedish):
