Two awards for former student and researcher in mathematics
2025-09-15Two prestigious awards granted to former student and researcher for contributions to mathematics and mathematics education.
Minh Phuong Bui, postdoctoral researcher in mathematics and part of the research environment ROSE (which focuses on what happens in the classroom and the interaction between teachers and students in the learning process), has been awarded the Future Education Early Career Award in the category STEM+ for the Sustainable Development of Our Society.
The award was presented at the EARLI Conference 2025 in Graz and highlights young researchers who have made significant contributions to educational research. Minh Phuong Bui was recognized for her review "A systematic review of mindset interventions in mathematics classrooms: What works and what does not?", which examines how different interventions influence students’ mindsets in mathematics education. At Karlstad University, she is currently leading two projects on how generative AI can be integrated into mathematics education at the higher education level.
Awarded by the Mathematical Society of Japan
Kazunori Matsui, a former student at Karlstad University, has been awarded the 2025 Takebe Katahiro Prize by the Mathematical Society of Japan – a prize that highlights young researchers with exceptional potential. Kazunori’s thesis work, carried out in collaboration with researchers at Karlstad University, resulted in two scientific publications and paved the way for a doctoral position.
