Kick-off for Hotspot – Celebrating 30 years!
2026-10-02– We often say that it will be the best Hotspot ever, and I am convinced that it will be. After all, this is the 30th anniversary, says project manager Erica Jansson as the project team for Hotspot 2027 gathers for its kick-off.
– Yes, it always turns out to be the best Hotspot ever, and it is hard to imagine how it can be surpassed, but somehow it is. Every year. And now we are celebrating 30 years. It is going to be great fun! says Susanna Lundborg, Head of Internationalisation and External Relations at Karlstad University.
As in previous years, around 20 students are part of the project team responsible for organising next year’s Hotspot. On Friday, the entire group met for the first time for an afternoon of information sessions, icebreaker activities, team-building exercises, and an evening dinner.
Future employers
– First and foremost, I would like to thank you for the work you are about to put in. Hotspot is extremely important for the university and for all students when it comes to strengthening the connection between studies and working life. The fair you are now beginning to organise will hopefully help other students find their future jobs, and perhaps you will even meet your own future employers during the project, says Susanna Lundborg.
She explains that she is currently reviewing applications for a vacant position within her unit.
– We have received a great many applications, and there are lots of highly qualified candidates. In that situation, it is important to stand out. So make sure to include your work with Hotspot on your CVs in the future, preferably with some detail. It is a very valuable experience to have.
One of Sweden’s largest careers fairs
Hotspot is Karlstad University’s annual careers fair and one of the largest in Sweden. The fair was established by the former Karlstad University College, and the first Hotspot was held on 18 February 1998.
The fair welcomes all students at the university, as well as employers from all sectors. Each year, around 100 exhibitors take part with the aim of meeting and recruiting the talent of the future, namely students from Karlstad University.
On 17 February 2027, it will be time once again!
