Hello there, Mats Gustavii, programme director for the Bachelor of Music programme at Ingesund School of Music...
2024-11-28...the application period for the Bachelor of Music and Master of Music programs will soon open.
Why should you apply to Ingesund School of Music if you want to become a professional musician?
”At Ingesund School of Music, we combine high-quality teaching with a strong focus on supporting each student's personal and artistic development. Our teachers are top-level international performers and educators, dedicated to preparing you for a future career as a professional musician. Here, you will have numerous opportunities to practice and perform, as well as generous individual lessons with your main teacher, which is an invaluable part of your development."
What sets Ingesund School of Music apart from other music college schools in Sweden?
”Ingesund School of Music offers a study environment that is both inspiring and unique. The school has a large number of practice rooms available 24/7, allowing students to immerse themselves in their instrument at any time. For pianists, there is also an impressive collection of high-quality grand pianos.”
”Another strength is our size – with around 200 students, we have a close and inclusive community. What we call the "Ingesund spirit" creates a safe and supportive environment, as confirmed by our course evaluations. Our alumni are a testament to the quality of our education. After studying with us, many students continue as professional musicians in orchestras, as soloists, or in master's programs both in Sweden and internationally. It is clear that a degree from Ingesund opens doors worldwide.”
How important is it for a higher-level music education to have renowned teachers?
”It is, of course, very important! At Ingesund, we have an exceptional faculty with teachers who are active on the international stage and have had distinguished careers in their fields. For many ambitious applicants, the choice of teacher is a crucial factor when deciding where to invest their study years. Our renowned teachers ensure that students receive the highest level of education while being inspired to develop their artistic expression.”
What do you hope to impart to students after they complete their studies?
”After three years at Ingesund School of Music, students leave artistry ready for professional life. They are well-prepared for auditions, for example, for orchestras, and have developed their ability to perform at the highest level. For those who choose to continue their development through further studies, they are also fully equipped to take the step to a master's program – preferably with us!
”Many of our former students have chosen to continue their education in our master's program, which we see as a clear sign that their time with us is not only rewarding but also a solid foundation for further artistic development. This is something we are very proud of. We now also offer two one-year advanced courses – the Interpretation Year is an additional year after a bachelor's degree in music, with further studies towards a professional career as a musician. The Artist Diploma course prepares musicians for an international career as a soloist and/or chamber musician.”
The Master of Music program provides opportunities to further develop as an excellent musician and soloist, as well as offering time to build your brand. Program director Jon Dahlkvist, why should you, as a musician, choose Ingesund School of Music for a master's degree?
”The master's program at Ingesund School of Music helps you reach the next level as a musician, whether you aim for a career as a soloist, chamber musician, or orchestral musician. The education combines high-quality teaching with courses in entrepreneurship and stage communication, giving you all the tools needed to handle auditions, create engaging concert experiences, and lead your own projects. With a strong community, first-class resources, and internationally active teachers, you get both the time and personal support to develop your artistic expression and prepare for a successful music career.”
You can apply to our music programmes and courses December 2 - January 15.
