The Collaboration Day DICOND: A Successful Day for Strengthening the Region's Digital Competence
2024-09-27On September 25, Karlstad University, together with Compare, companies, organizations, and students, gathered for this year’s Digital Competence Network Day (DICOND), with nearly 70 participants.
During the event, participants had the opportunity to meet and network with students in computer science and informatics, with the goal of creating new forms of collaboration and ensuring that the region remains competitive in the labor market.
"We want to strengthen cooperation with regional actors and find models that work for everyone since our research and students should meet society's expectations. As a regional player, we want to increase the connection with companies, meet their needs with competence, and understand their challenges. Computer science is constantly evolving, especially in areas like cybersecurity, AI, and big data, which makes collaboration even more important," says Johan Eklund, Senior Lecturer in Computer Science.
During the day, companies presented their experiences of collaborating with the university, while students gained insights into and direct contact with the regional business community.
"Through events like DICOND, we help strengthen the link between companies and future talent. Our goal is to stimulate skills supply within tech and ensure that Värmland is equipped for future digital challenges," says Marcus Olsson Ramberg, Innovation Manager at Compare.
Karlstad University also highlighted its potential to strengthen ties with businesses and how collaboration can lead to better opportunities for both students and companies.
"The day was a success, and it’s very positive to see so many showing interest in collaborating with us. This is a solid foundation to develop stable and functional forms of cooperation moving forward," concludes Johan Eklund.
