With more than 200 released productions that have sold millions of copies, the co-founder of Silence Records and Silence studio, Anders Lind, is one of Sweden’s greatest music producers. He now receives an honorary doctorate from Karlstad University for his accomplishments.
Anders Lind is one of the founders of the record company Silence Records and the Silence studio in Koppom, Värmland. He has his roots in the Swedish music movement and is a pillar of Swedish progg. Through productions over a period of more than 50 years, Silence has placed Koppom on the international map. This accomplishment has meant that Anders Lind and Silence have had, and continue to have, a great influence on the Swedish music movement and music industry. Famous releases such as the international hit album “Lord of the Rings” by Bo Hansson was recorded in the Silence studio in the 70s. The list of artists and bands that have chosen to record their music with Silence is long and includes, for example, Kebnekajse, Dag Vag, Thomas Wiehe, Jan Hammarlund, Turid, Samla Mammas Manna, Ragnarök, Cosmic Overdose, Hederos & Hellberg, Hedningarna, Bob hund, Eldkvarn, and Träd, Gräs och Stenar. The list also includes a great number of artists from other record companies as well as artists from Norway and Denmark.
Contribution to the music production programme
Without Anders Lind and the Silence studio, the three-year Music Production Programme at Ingesund School of Music probably would not exist. As a producer and sound engineer, Anders Lind has contributed greatly with his expertise and experience in the shaping and establishment of the programme. Silence also regularly welcomes programme students to visit the studio.
Anders Lind is awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Karlstad University 2023 for his collaboration and commitment to the training of future music producers as part of the Music Production Programme at Ingesund School of Music.
"What a surprise! But it has always been stimulating to meet new cohorts of students and talk about the history of music and the development of technology. I’m truly honoured, says Anders Lind."
Anders Lind will formally receive the title of Honorary Doctor of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences on Friday 20 October during Karlstad University's annual Academic Celebration.
