Finding books on the shelves

Locating material in the library

To find a book in the library you must first use the library catalogue to see where a book is shelved and if it is available for borrowing.

Newer books are placed by a subject code and number

Books purchased from 2011 onwards are placed on floor 3. The books on floor 3 are placed according to a subject code (SAB system) and a number consisting of year + number, for example: Dd 2019:11

In this example from the library catalogue you can see that the library holds three copies of the book: two copies shelved at call number Dd 2019:11 and one copy in the course reference collection (Kursreferens).
The "Status" column shows if the book is available, or checked out.

• Shelf Dd 2019:11
  You can find this book by first locating the shelf with call number Dd on floor 3. The call numbers are located on the ends of the shelves. On the Dd shelf, the books are sorted by year + number: Dd 2019:11
   
• Course reference books
  The copy in the course reference collection is placed on the course reference shelf in room 1E 225 on floor 2 (ground floor). The course reference books are sorted alphabetically by author, or title if the book has an editor.

  You can find this book by first locating the shelf with call number Dd on floor 2. The call numbers are located of the ends of the shelves. On the Dd shelf, the books are sorted in alphabetic order, by author, or if the book has an editor, by title. In this example, the book is sorted on the author: Guvå.
