New exchange agreement with SSE in Riga
2018-04-25SSE Riga, a branch of the Stockholm School of Economics, is an international partner to the Business School at Karlstad University. Amos Friedman and Alexandra Mets, students at Karlstad Business School, were sent on a look out trip to Riga during the preparations ahead of the exchange agreement.
Alexandra Mets is in the International Business programme and is herself about to go on an exchange semester next spring. Amon Friedman is in the Programme in Business and Economics, but is currently on a leave on is working as a chairman in Sero, Sveriges Ekonomföreningars Riksorganisation, in Stockholm. They were both given the assignment to travel to Riga, to the branch of the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, Lativa-Riga Ekonomikas Augustskola, ahead of a coming exchange agreement.
- Riga is an amazingly beautiful and historical city. The architecture is beautiful, the city center was mixed and even though it was lively the city felt calm, Alexandra Mets says.
While in Riga they met the student unions’ president, vice president and the responsible for education, looked at the school and met with economy connections.
- SSE in Riga has about 300 students, so the unity is very good. It is close to the teachers and the education holds a very high quality. The student union is very similar to the Karlekon, the student union of the economic students, here in Karlstad. They work in similar ways with workshops, close connections with the business economy and study social activities, says Amos Friedman.
SSE Riga has a high education quality and is ranked first among business schools in the Baltic/Nordic region by Financial Times Ranking of Top European Business Schools in 2017.
- It was very clear that the Business School in Riga has a good reputation when we met representatives from the economy business. It is easy to get internship if you are a student there and it is easy to get a job after graduating. This is an exchange we highly recommend and it suits the one who is study motivated and seeks an exchange with a really high education quality, says Amos and Alexandra.
