Evaluation of Information Systems education
2018-09-17In a collaborative effort to assure the quality of education at their universities, some universities are making their own evaluation of each other. Today the Treklöver Report about Karlstad Business School's- part of Karlstad University - educational programmes in Information Systems was published.
The report mentions several good examples at the Information Systems group at Karlstad Business School, all to be shared by the Information Systems community in Sweden . Among these are the well-developed collaboration with industry and other future employers. Another strenght identified by the evaluation team, is the connection to various research projects within the Master’s programme. The connection between research and education means that this small programme can run with good qaulity ensured.
- However, we will focus on other parts of the report, where we find suggestions for pedagogical development, explains Professor John Sören Pettersson, subject co-ordinator at Information Systems at Karlstad Business School. There are good arguments in the report for increasing the exposure to scientific articles for undergraduate students. Also we need to have more training in critical discussion. That, I think, would improve for students who later make their literature review chapter in their Bachelor theses.
