The course Communication for working life is a success among international students
2025-04-02The first course round has now finished and the students Maria Oliva and Thibault Vainer are very pleased.
– I will definitely benefit from this course in my future career, says student Maria Oliva.
– We based the course on the idea that students need to practise their communication skills in a variety of situations that they will encounter in life, says John Johansson. And it has been well-received by the students, who appreciated the combination of theory and practical exercises.
– The course concludes with a relatively open assignment where the students present how they have improved their communication skills, says Lena Lif Falkman. We have seen examples of videos, podcasts and oral presentations of high standard.
Maria Oliva, you are from Italy and study international business at the university in Cologne in Germany. Tell us about your experiences from the course Communication for working life at Karlstad Business School.
– We are all expected to present things in various situations, especially in academia, but we rarely get the opportunity to practise our presentation skills. Having the knowledge from this course as a foundation and being able to use the tools that we have learned, such as using questions and metaphors, will help me a lot in delivering presentations in the best possible way.
– I’m convinced that I will benefit from this course in my future career and that it will help me continue to improve. I hope that I will be more efficient in my communication as well as being able to motivate and inspire others. I have also learned not to get so stressed about giving presentations. I really felt that the course suited me and I would recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity to take it.
Thibault Vainer, you are from France and study leadership. What have you learned from the course Communication for working life at Karlstad Business School?
– The course complemented my previous knowledge in a good way and gave me several useful tools. Overall, I have become better at connecting with people and I have learned how to communicate with employees and give feedback in a good way. I think it will make me a better employee.
