Educational Work is a cross-disciplinary subject and a profession-oriented area of knowledge that focuses on the practice-based issues and phenomena that are central in education. The field includes the work of pupils and teachers, the socialisation of children and young people, their learning inside and outside the classroom and other educational situations. The subject has a clear focus on practice-based research that includes studying the organisation of schools and the teaching profession, as well as subject-specific contents in preschools and schools. Educational Work is aimed at students holding a teaching qualification who want to combine these skills with research on teaching practice and its local, national and international conditions. Research in Educational Work contributes to the critical debate about education.
Educational Work is offered at master’s and doctoral level, and is one of the university’s largest research environments.
