Module 1 Reactions to change 7.5 ECTS cr
Middle managers in public organisations must be able to understand and handle reactions to change and know what psychological aspects affect individual reactions of resistance or acceptance. Reactions to change as psychological defence or stress are treated. The focus is on organisational changes.
Module 2 Counselling Skills: Conversation as a tool 7.5 ECTS cr
Middle managers need knowledge of conversation as a tool in their work. The module deals with useful communication theories with a focus on the difficult conversation and employee appraisal and development interviews.
Module 3 Leadership and Management 7.5 ECTS cr
The module deals with leadership in relation to leadership research with relevance to middle management. Aspects of economic control and communication as a management tool are treated.
Module 4 Methodology and Independent Project 7.5 ECTS cr
The module introduces social science perspectives on research methods. Problem formulation, the research process and methods of analysis and conclusion are treated. Students carry out a project, individually or as individual contribution to a group project product. The project should involve relevant application of social science research methodology.
