The course deals with different aspects of philosophy of science from a historical and contemporary perspective.
The perspectives are related through discussions across time and space of the ontology and epistemology of sciences. The different meanings and uses of the concept of truth are central to the course.

Admission requirements:
General requirements for admission to second-cycle studies. Upper secondary level Swedish B/Sw 2B and English A or equvalent. Bachelor's degree of at least 180 ECTS cr with a Major in one of the following subjects: history, human geography, political science, sociology, social work, social care, or equivalent. Human geography can be substituted by tourism, environmental science or GIS engineering degree, provided these include an emphasis on social science. Social work/social care can be substituted by a professional degree in social work or social care. Non-programme students: First-cycle courses in the social sciences totalling at least 120 ECTS, of which 90 ECTS cr including a degree thesis of 15 ECTS cr in one of the following subjects: history, human geography, social work, social care, sociology, political science, tourism or environmental science with an emphasis on social science or an engineering degree with an emphasis on social science.
Selection:
Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
