Swedish Language in Theory and Practice II
30.0 ECTS creditsStudents study different aspects of Swedish and acquire basic knowledge of Norwegian and/or Danish. Grammar is considered throughout the course as are oral and written language skills. Relevant research is introduced in all modules.
Module 1 The writing process and academic writing, 7.5 ECTS cr
Students develop skills in process-oriented writing with response and revision as important components. Special emphasis is on academic writing.
Module 2 Swedish in speech and conversation, 7.5 ECTS cr
Students study Swedish in spontaneous and prepared speech. Students are expected to acquire a rhetorical competence in analysing the speech and conversation of others and their own presentations.
Module 3 Language history and Nordic languages, 7.5 ECTS cr
Students enhance their knowledge of language history with an emphasis on vocabulary and grammar. Norwegian and/or Danish are treated together with inter-Nordic language literacy issues.
Module 4 Vocabulary and phraseology, 7.5 ECTS cr
Students enhance their understanding of word formation, semantics and lexiography. Vocabulary and phrases are treated in a teaching perspective.
