This is a distance learning course using different forms of ICT.
Theory of science with an emphasis on the differences and similarities between science paradigms are studied. Qualitative and quantitative studies in nursing research are studied in terms of purpose, design, data collection and analysis methods. Concepts such as reliability, validity and trustworthiness are studied and also how different statistical methods are used. Students apply interview methodology and transcribed interviews are analysed with a chosen qualitative method. Research ethical issues are considered in terms of legislation and frameworks relevant to nursing research. Different questionnaires/ instruments in nursing are scrutinized and students review research articles relevant to nursing research independently.

Admission requirements:
Degree in Nursing 180 ECTS cr including a degree project 15 ECTS cr or a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or equivalent. Upper secondary level Swedish 3 or B/Sw2 B or 3, and English 6 or A, or equivalent.
Selection:
Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
