Anesthesia within the dental hygienist´s profession

- The anatomy and medical terminology of the head, neck, and teeth
- Pain and pain physiology
- Infection and infection control
- Pharmacology
- Prescription of anesthetic preparations
- Local anesthesia
- Ergonomics
- Ethical and professional approach
- Clinical placement (VFU)
During the clinical placement, students administer anesthesia under supervision and based on assessment materials and anesthesia records. At least 15 uses of infiltration anesthesia and at least 10 nerve block/mandibular nerve blocks must be completed before the clinical assessment at Karlstad University.
