Degree project
7.5 ECTS creditsAt the start of the course, students submit a project plan for the design and completion of the degree project, which has to be approved by the examiner before the start of the project and before supervision is provided.The plan should include background, aim and delimited problem, suggested literature and method, and a time plan.
Instruction is in the form of lectures, supervision and a seminar. The lectures outline reserach methodology. Students are recommended to complete the degree project in cooperation with an external partner, if possible. At the beginning of the course, students submit a project plan and work individually or in pairs, if possible at the partner company. Students are responsible for contacting the supervisor at appropriate stages. Students are also required to review and discuss the work of a fellow-student at the final seminar.
The student has the responsibility for the process and result of the independent degree project. Students are responsible for making appoitments with the supervisor. The number of supervision sessions is limited. Supervision is only provided during the course period. Reregistered students are offered supervision to the extent made possible by available resources.

Admission requirements
Attended courses totalling 90 ECTS cr for the Surveying and Mapping programme (TGMKT) or completed courses totalling 60 ECTS cr for the Engineering: Surveying Technology and Geographical IT programme, or equivalent.

Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
