Introduction to Estate Law
7.5 ECTS creditsInstruction is in the form of alternating lectures, literature study, and seminar assignments. Students present and give an account of an outline plan and its components in groups, and also complete and present a seminar assignment relevant for the area of property formation.
The course includes a basic survey of the Swedish legal system and the history and function of property classification. Various types of property ownership and disposition rights are discussed as well as regulations regarding the construction and use of property and regulations regarding property access for various purposes. Of special importance are laws pertaining to land parcelling and registration of property, property units, utility easement, as well as the Building Act. Students are also introduced to the Environmental Act, the Road Act, as well as laws pertaining to the management of communal facilities units and the cultural environment. The course also covers the content and function of the real property register, the buying and selling of real property, as well as regulations concerning the registration of title-deeds, land registration, and lien.
