Music and Music Teaching 4
7.5 ECTS creditsThe course comprises three modules. The course content prepares students for school-based placements within the subject area.
Module 1: Instrument, 3.5 ECTS cr.
- playing the main instrument, both in individual instrumental lessons and in ensemble settings, and
- strategies for musical study and practice.
Module 2: Instrument continuation, 1 ECTS cr.
- practical, interpretative exercises and group reflections where rhythm is used as a method to integrate different areas of practice, such as meter, dance/movement, voice, and drama, into a holistic perspective on music learning.
Module 3: Music education, 3 ECTS cr.
- descriptions, analyses, and discussions on planning, assessment, and evaluation models, as well as general subject-specific issues in music education,
- practical applications, analyses, critical reflections, and discussions of their own and other people's music teaching,
- instrumental methodology seminars with selected themes,
- in-depth methodological aspects based on the chosen approach for each main instrument,
- supervised teaching practice on the main instrument within compulsory or elective school activities, and
- reflections on completed supervised teaching practice.

Completed Music and Music Teaching 2, 15 ECTS credits, and Educational tools for teachers - Music teachers, 7.5 ECTS credits, and registered for Music and Music Teaching 3, 15 ECTS credits, and Teachers' pedagogical approach 1 - Music teachers, 7.5 ECTS credits, or equivalent
Selection:
Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
