Music and Sound Production 1
7.5 ECTS creditsThe course comprises two modules. The course content prepares students for placement within the subject area.
Module 1
This module includes elements where students, divided into level-based groups, practice notating and reproducing rhythms, melodies, and chords. In the instrumentation section, the basic principles for writing for the most common instrument families are presented, as well as knowledge of instruments.
Module 2
This module provides an overview of the basic foundations of recording techniques, including:
- Fundamentals of sound theory and acoustics
- Listening: conditions for listening, both technical and musical aspects
- Microphones, mixing consoles, and signal flow
- Signal processing
- Human factors: recording psychology, communication, and time planning
- Procedures: workflow in a standard production
- History: milestones in the development of recording techniques
The module also includes a review of the upper secondary school curricula for music production, practical exercises, and practice teaching in the form of classroom observation.

Music and Music Teaching 1, 22.5 ECTS credits, and School as system and idea - Music teachers, 7.5 ECTS credits, plus registered for Music and Music Teaching 2, 15 ECTS credits, or equivalent
Selection:
Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
