Music and Music Teaching 3
15.0 ECTS creditsThe course comprises three modules. The course content prepares students for school-based placements within the subject area.
Module 1: Instrument, 5 ECTS cr.
- playing the main instrument, both in individual instrumental lessons and in ensemble settings, and
- strategies for musical study and practice.
Module 2: Instrument continuation, 3 ECTS cr.
- basic music notation comprehension and playing various accompaniment patterns on the piano,
- vocal training focusing on voice function, and
- practical, interpretative exercises and group reflections using rhythm as a method to integrate different applications such as meter, dance/movement, voice, and drama into a holistic perspective on music learning.
Module 3: Music education, 7 ECTS cr.
- descriptions, analyses, and discussions of planning, assessment, and evaluation models, as well as general music education issues,
- practical applications, analyses, critical reflections, and discussions of their own and other people's music teaching,
- instrumental teaching methodology seminars on selected themes,
- in-depth methodological aspects based on the chosen instructional approach for each main instrument,
- supervised practice teaching on the main instrument within compulsory or optional school settings,
- reflections on completed supervised practice teaching, and
- fundamental educational and group dynamic aspects of ensemble instruction.

Completed Music and music teaching 1, 22.5 ECTS credits, and School as system and idea - Music teachers, 7.5 ECTS credits, and registered for Music and music teaching 2, 15 ECTS credits, or equivalent
Selection:
Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
