15.0 ECTS creditsThe course comprises three modules and prepares students for practical placement in music.
Module 1: Additional Instrument, 3 ECTS cr
Students learn to play pop and rock songs on electrtic guitar and use technical equipment for electric guitar. Students also practice playing in a group on accompaniment instruments and singing from a teaching perspective, and use technical equipment to do so.
Module 2: Music Pedagogy, 9 ECTS cr
The module treats general music pedagogy through
- seminars with presentations and discussions of current texts in general and music-specific journals, research, and debate,
- introduction to and preparation of their own teaching philosophy.
The component ensemble methodology mainly covers:
- seminars on different approaches to leading an ensemble,
- goals, content, planning,
- assessment of ensemble performances.
The component classroom methodology mainly covers:
- thematic integration of music with other subjects in lower primary school,
- planning, applying, and evaluating content and approaches.
Module 3: Music Theory, 3 ECTS cr
The module comprises components such as producing sound and music to moving pictures, and the history of popular and art music and its role and function in the 20th and 21st centuries.
