Music and Music Teaching 4

The course comprises three modules and prepares students for practical placement in the area of music.
Module 1: Instrument, 3.5 ECTS cr
Components:
-main instrument instruction and ensemble play
-strategies for learning music parts
Module 2: Additional instruments 2 ECTS cr
Components:
-knowledge of choir repertoire, voice treatment, intonation, performing choir singing musically
-basic conducting technique with different rhythms, cue the beginning and fermata, and
-hands-on exercises and reflections in groups where rhythm is used as a method of integrating different areas such as metrics, dance/movement, voice, drama in music learning.
Module 3: Music pedagogy 2 ECTS cr
Components:
-descriptions, analysis and discussions on planning, assessment and evaluation models and general music teaching issues
-concrete applications, analysis, problematisation and discussions of their own and others' instrumental teaching
-instrumental teaching methodology seminars on chosen themes
-advanced methodological aspects of the main instrument based on a chosen approach
-supervised practice teaching on the main instrument in school or music school, and
-reflections on completed supervised practice teaching

Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
